This position provides customer service-focused care by greeting and assisting our patients and is responsible for patient registration, collection of payments and co-pays, obtaining and scanning documents from patients and referring providers, providing patient directions, and providing a welcoming atmosphere to the patients of Pacific Medical Centers. Provide effective and efficient front office services to patients; coordinate internal and external clinic phone communications among staff, patients, and providers; accurately collect records and ensure distribution to appropriate staff via computer and/or manual systems; administer co-pay collection from patients; perform clerical, scheduling, and records activities in support of patients and staff.
In this position you will:
Greet and check-in patients and visitors in a friendly, courteous manner in person and on the phone; direct flow of patients and calls.
Collect and verify accurate and complete demographic information from patient or family member. Accurately enter all data into the information system and update established patient files as necessary. Ensures current HIPAA acknowledgment and Consent to Treat have been obtained and scanned. Verifies insurance eligibility
Ensure proper referrals and authorizations are in place at time of check in.
Perform screening function with patients to determine appropriate staff/departments to best meet patient needs and refer appropriately.
Oversee the processing of all clerical records and information for clinic patients including cashiering, encounter forms, patient charts, etc.
Provide information to patients regarding financial policies, registration requirements, etc.
Collect co-payments and balances due from patients. Reconcile collection batch daily.
Ensure that patient needs are met while in the clinic to include transportation as necessary, interpreters, scheduling of appointments, and the like.
Schedule and coordinate appointments; work acute and emergency patients into practitioner’s schedules.
Ensure that patient waiting areas are clean, well-maintained, and pleasant.
Receives, sorts, and distributes mail. Manages outgoing mail.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Completion of PMC’s the Medical Terminology Test for BOS/PSR/PAR Staff with a passing score within 90 days of hire
One (1) year of customer service experience
Fluency with written and spoken English
