Find what you’re looking for in your career, at PacMed as a Business Office Specialist (1.0 FTE ,Day Shift) to work at our Beacon Hill Clinic located in Seattle, WA. There is also occasional travel to our First Hill Clinic in Seattle, WA.
We are seeking a Business Office Specialist to enter incoming and outgoing referrals, collects and posts cash, performs, central banker processes, provides routine financial counseling to patients, researches routine referral and billing issues, and may complete coding for referrals.
In this position you will:
Referral Entry/Patient Accounts Research:
Enters referrals into system and advises patients on routine insurance and referral issues.
Advises staff and providers on routine billing, insurance and registration issues.
Advises patients on insurance and referral issues.
Prepares insurance forms and responds to insurance requests.
Codes write-in diagnoses and procedures.
Collects and posts co-payment and other payments.
Verifies cash reconciliation, following cash management policy.
Prepares receipts for bank deposits.
Answers, records, and routes incoming telephone calls.
Receives, responds to and correctly process medically oriented calls requiring judgment, discretion and tact according to practice and departmental guidelines.
Registers new patients, completing demographic and financial fields in the IDX registration system, assigns financial codes, and obtains proof of insurance. Verifies benefits and eligibility. Copies insurance cards and updates registration at each visit.
Performs check-in process; verifies appointment, completes and corrects demographic and financial data in IDX; confirms referral is done prior to visit, collects and posts co-payments or other cash payments due at time of service; performs routine troubleshooting for missing referral information.
Performs check-out process, ensuring patients have appointments scheduled at check-out, and referral entry is started. Communicates patient appointments, directions and any preparation for referred visits or tests. May process referrals as needed.
Notes financial and registration flags and initiate appropriate steps.
Required qualifications for this position include:
H.S. Diploma or GED
Completion of PMC’s the Medical Terminology Test for BOS/PSR/PAR Staff with a passing score within 90 days of hire
One (1) year of customer service experience
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Patient third party billing and referrals experience on an automated patient accounts system.
Health care experience in ambulatory practice.
Experience in liaison role for providers and staff.
Experience with coding: ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS.
