Pacific Medical Centers Health Information Management Specialist in Seattle, Washington


Find what you're looking for as a Health Information Management Specialist in IT Health Information at Pacific Medical Centers in Seattle, WA.

In this position you will:

  • Maintain and update patient records, which will include medical histories, treatments and examinations.

  • Monitor incoming and scanned documents to ensure accuracy of the data being entered into the EMR.

  • Sort all incoming papers, check for two patient identifiers on each document and check for accuracy of correct medical record to prepare for scanning or sending to clinics for provider review.

  • Process ROI requests following the protocols or the Release of Information program.

  • Receive and handle calls from multiple phone lines from patients, providers, other departments, copying firms, insurance companies, outside clinics and business partners


Required qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Successful completion of a HIM-approved medical terminology program or class upon hire

  • Two years or more experience in Health Information Department or equivalent education

  • Three years or more experience in customer service

  • Knowledge of health information systems, terminal digit order numbering system, computer software, and database fundamentals

  • Demonstrated proficiency using document scanning or imaging systems.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in medical data abstraction and data entry.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel
