We are seeking a Nuclear Medicine Coordinator to perform cardiac nuclear medicine tests for medical diagnoses. Independently computes and validates doses for intravenous and oral administration of radio-pharmaceuticals; documents administration of radioactive material to patients. Performs quality control testing of equipment. Responsible for adherence to all regulatory and compliance standards and associated reports; supervises all operational aspects of day to day operations within the laboratory, including responsibility for timely delivery of all radiopharmaceuticals.
In this position you will:
Perform Nuclear Cardiology studies including image acquisition and processing and monitoring patient vital signs.
Acquires knowledge of the patients' medical histories to understand and relate illness and pending diagnostic procedures for therapy, instruct patients before and during procedures, evaluates the satisfactory preparation of patients before commencing a procedure, and recognizes emergency patient conditions and initiates life-saving first aid when appropriate.
Applies knowledge of radiation physics and safety regulations to limit patient and personnel radiation exposure in relation to nearly every activity. Monitors department with portable Geiger Counter for possible contamination.
Performs procedures involve the production of images requiring the use of an Anger gamma camera radiation detection device.
Performs in vivo measurement of radio-pharmaceuticals in patients’ organs using a scintillation probe.
Performs in vitro radioimmunoassays on patient specimens.
Calibrates and draws up radio-pharmaceutical materials for administration to patients; formulates radio-pharmaceutical materials from pre-prepared kits.
Processes computerized image data to include function curves and reconstructed SPECT images. Evaluates recorded images for technical quality.
Performs EKG prep, tracing and monitors for obvious change during cardiac studies.
Assists in the development and evaluation of new procedures and techniques to meet the needs of specific protocols as required. Consults with physician concerning the application of nuclear medicine procedures and techniques.
Maintains inventory of supplies in assigned area; prepares and maintains records concerning radio-pharmaceutical receiving, dispensing and disposal activities. Maintains records of order, including brachytherapy procedures, receipt and disposal of all radioactive material in the department.
Evaluates and documents the proper functioning of all instrumentation daily.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Current Washington State Radiology License.
Current ACLS or BLS certification.
Registration with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board, and/or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Medicine.
Recent cardiac experience.
Five (5) years recent experience preferred, but not required
