The Patient Access and Navigation Associate will facilitate incoming and outgoing communications for Pacific Medical Centers and clients of the Pacific Medical Centers; provides efficient, accurate and effective customer-focused communication services. Performs full patient registration at the time of the call. Schedules routine and complex primary care and specialty appointments. Answers routine insurance questions. Obtains and verifies insurance. Obtains current insurance information for all patients. Works collaboratively with the back office teams through the messaging system and via phone call to ensure patient needs are relayed in a timely manner. Ensures communication provides an exceptional patient experience. May require travel to other Pacific Medical Center locations.
In this position, you will:
Operate communications and call center equipment.
Receive, respond to and correctly process medically oriented calls according to practice and departmental guidelines, using judgment, discretion and tact.
Receive and route other calls according to practice and departmental guidelines, using judgment, discretion and tact, including determining the appropriate call recipient using guidelines and/or performing research as need.
Facilitate connection for non-English speaking callers with Interpretive Services.
Responsible for accurate and timely message documentation and delivery, which may require complex problem resolution. Also give feedback to the patient about approximately when to expect a return call, and who to call if they do not receive it.
Provide accurate just-in-time communication to all departmental staff as clinic and client service requirements indicate.
Perform registration on new patients. Guide patients on providing insurance information via telephone and enters insurance and other information accurately into Pacific Medical Centers’ computer system. Set appointments according to scheduling guidelines.
Perform other duties such as online scheduling, making reminder calls to patients, and retrieving voicemail messages, contacts patients by phone to schedule appointments requested by providers, etc.
Required qualifications for this position include:
H.S. Diploma or GED or equivalent educ/experience
One (1) year customer service experience
Fluency with written and spoken English
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
One (1) year working in a high-volume call center environment
