We are seeking a Patient Access & Navigation Representative to facilitate incoming and outgoing communications for Pacific Medical Centers and clients of the Pacific Medical Centers; provides efficient, accurate and effective customer-focused communication services. Pre-registration of new patients and verification of registration for established patients. Schedules routine and complex primary care and specialty appointments. Obtains and verifies insurance eligibility with benefits and obtain referrals authorizations for routine orders. May work the cancel/reschedule appointment list. Works collaboratively with the back office teams through the messaging system and via phone call to ensure patient needs are relayed in a timely manner. Ensures phone communication provides an exceptional patient experience. May require travel to other Pacific Medical Center locations.
In this position you will:
Operates communications and Patient Access Center equipment.
Provides efficient, accurate and effective customer focused communication services. Receives, responds to and correctly navigates calls according to practice and departmental guidelines, using judgment, discretion and tact.
Insurance verification and routine referral coordination. Processes daily electronic insurance eligibility verification. Contact patients for updated registration information as needed.
Facilitates connection for non-English speaking callers with Interpretive Services. Daily reviewing of PMC interpreter schedule, verification of VRI scheduling and live interpreters.
Responsible for accurate and timely encounter documentation and delivery, which may require complex problem resolution. Patient complaint resolution.
Acts as a liaison for clinic staff and providers. Advises patients on insurance verification and referral issues.
Performs full registration on new patients and verification of registration for established patients. Guides patients on providing insurance information via telephone and enters insurance and other information accurately into the Epic system. Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits for all appointments. Sets appointments according to scheduling guidelines.
Performs other duties such as online and Mychart scheduling, retrieving voicemail messages, KCPA coordination and contacts patients by phone to schedule appointments requested by providers, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications for this position include:
2 years customer service experience
1 year healthcare or insurance experience, with ambulatory practice experience
1 year patient third party eligibility experience
Fluency with written and spoken English
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
2 years working in a high-volume call center environment
Prior experience in liaison role for providers and staff
1 year with coding: ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS
