This is a full time position and is eligible for benefits.
We are seeking a Patient Account Specialist to maintain well-aged accounts receivable for assigned payers/providers.
In this position you will:
Research and resolve rejected, incorrectly paid and denied claims in assigned work-files within an established time frame
Take timely and routine action to collect unpaid claims.
Respond professionally to all inquiries from patients, Pacific Medical Centers' staff or payers regarding billing and/or payment questions in a timely fashion
Coordinate information on behalf of patients, providers and business office personnel to respond to inquiries regarding claim billing or insurance Explanation of Benefits and third party liability claims.
Comply with all applicable regulations.
Clearly document in Flowcast all completed transactions.
Establish and maintain a professional relationship with all department staff, other Pacific Medical Centers’ staff and insurance plan offices in order to resolve problems and increase knowledge of account management.
Verify that all charges within a patient’s account have been billed to the patient’s correct insurance plan. Contact payer by telephone or written letter to pursue insurance payment.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum two years’ experience in either physician/hospital billing or other healthcare business setting.
Understanding of clinic operations related to patient registration, referrals, & cash collections.
Understanding of insurance payer reimbursement.
Functional experience using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel).
Working knowledge of CPT, ICD 9 coding, and Correct Coding Initiatives and basic accounting.

ICD-10 coding knowledge
