Pacific Medical Centers Patient Care Coordinator - Beacon Hill Behavioral Health in Seattle, Washington

Provides efficient, accurate, and effective customer focused communication services, pre-registration of new patients and verification of registration for established patients. Obtains insurance eligibility verification for all patients. Verifies insurance benefits and obtains referral authorizations. Provides routine and complex financial counseling to patients, researches routine and complex billing issues. Works collaboratively with the back office teams to ensure an exceptional patient experience.

In this position you will:

  • Financial Counseling/Patient Accounts Research:

  • Acts as liaison for clinic staff and providers with corporate Business Services.

  • Registration:

  • Registers new patients into the Pacific Medical Centers system. Verifies registration for established patients of Pacific Medical Centers.

  • Notifies appropriate areas of any registration issues.

  • Contact patients for updated registration information if needed.

  • Referral Management and Patient Care:

  • Processes routine and complex referrals.

  • Assists with management of referral processes by coordination with providers, PCC Chair, RNs and other clinic staff. Communicates regularly with managed care, and other health care entities.

  • Performs medical record research for documentation as needed, and sends to insurance payer or referred entity to assist in improved coordination of care.

  • Interacts with appropriate Pacific Medical Centers’ staff to clarify referral information.

  • Answers referral line and assists patients, answers queries in a timely manner.


Required qualification for this position include:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 3 years Health care business office or insurance experience, with a minimum of 1-year ambulatory practice experience

  • Prior experience in liaison role for providers and staff

  • 1 year experience with coding: ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS

  • 1 year patient third party eligibility verification experience on an automated patient accounts system.
