We are seeking a Registered Nurse to provides professional nursing care as directed by the Washington State Nurse Practice Act and PMC policies, procedures, and protocols, i.e., provides primary and specialty health care services in collaboration with other members of the health care team while integrating clinical, teaching, consulting, care coordination/case management, and leadership nursing roles. Utilizes a systematic approach to nursing practice, incorporating the principles of Nursing Process when delivering care. Provides care requiring specialized skills, experience, knowledge and demonstrated competency.
In this position you will:
Assess patient needs, delivers direct care, evaluates outcome of care, and adjusts plan and subsequent interventions accordingly
Administer chemotherapy agents and miscellaneous medications within the scope of registered nursing practice.
Institute health promotion and preventive care measures, based on patient needs assessment.
Document subjective and objective assessment, evaluation, plan, interventions and chemotherapy administration.
Review laboratory values and responds accordingly, e.g., ordering blood products PRN, adjusting EPO doses per clinical pathway, and initiating neutropenic or bleeding precautions PRN.
Draw labs via CVADs or peripherals; assesses CVADs for signs of infection or malfunction.
Perform peripheral IV, central venous, port-a-cath access.
Perform lab draws via central lines or port-a-caths.
Perform central line dressing changes as necessary.
Administer chemotherapy and other treatments associated with oncologic/ hematologic diseases.
Instruct patients individually or in groups, using a variety of methods, reinforcement and review.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Nursing degree (Baccalaureate, Associate or Diploma) from an accredited school of nursing.
Currently licensed to practice in Washington State.
Basic Life Support certification within 3 months of hire.
One year recent RN experience in a patient care setting.
Oncology chemotherapy administration experience.
Chemotherapy certification within 6 months of hire.
Current proficiency in IV access of all types.
Current knowledge of chemotherapeutic agents, and its administration, side effects, management, and patient learning needs.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
A minimum of two years recent RN experience in a patient care setting.
Recent prior experience in an outpatient setting.
Oncology Nursing Certification.
IV therapy certification.
Ability to use an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
