Find what you’re looking for in your career, at PacMed as a Senior Patient Access Representative (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in the Patient Access Department in Seattle, WA.
Provides efficient, accurate, and effective customer focused communication services, pre-registration of new patients and verification of registration for established patients. Obtains insurance eligibility verification for all patients. Verifies insurance benefits and obtains referral authorizations. Provides routine and complex financial counseling to patients, researches routine and complex billing issues. Works collaboratively with the back office teams to ensure an exceptional patient experience. Provides assistance to the supervisor and other team members.
In this position you will:
Provides routine and complex financial counseling to patients for estimation of payments, payment arrangements, discount payment program, and financial policies and procedures
Registers new patients into the Pacific Medical Centers system. Verifies registration for established patients of Pacific Medical Centers
Processes daily electronic insurance eligibility verification
Reviews all insurance verification for eligibility/benefits and consults with the appropriate areas for clarification or assistance. Updates patient insurance registration with appropriate information. Ensures timely processing of insurance verification throughout all steps of process. Utilizes expertise in various computer system
Gives on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices. Responsible for training on new department systems/processes under the direction of a Supervisor, and in accordance with the Supervisor’s guidelines
High School Diploma or GED
Three (3) years health care business office or insurance experience
One (1) year Ambulatory practice experience
Prior experience in liaison role for providers and staff
One (1) year experience with coding: ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS
One (1) year patient third party eligibility verification experience on an automated patient accounts system
